1. William Camden, The Pedigree of the Tylden family (compiled by William Camden in 1596 and drawn out by Randall Holmes in 1670). Sir Richard Tylden was living in the reigns of Henry II and Richard I. He was Seuexhall to Hugh de Lacy, constable of Chester Castle during Henry II's reign.
He afterwards assumed the Cross, accompanied by Coeur de Lion to the Holy Land and fought under him at the Battle of Axalon against Soldou Saladin.

Sir William Tylden is recorded in the Doomsday Book, as having furnished from his lands in Kent a Knight's fee on account of making the Black Prince a Knight.

28. Lineage. Rev. Richard Cooke Tylden, M.A., Rector of Milsted and Frinsted, 3rd son of Rev. Richard Osborne Tylden, of Milsted, by Deborah his wife, daughter and heir of Daniel May, m.1789, Sarah, 2nd dau. of Thomas Thurston, of Willesborough, and assumed by Sign-manual in 1799 the surname and arms of PATTENSON, in compliance with the will of his wife's kinsman, William Pattenson, of Ibornden, who died, unmarried 1799, only son and heir of William Pattenson, of Ibornden, by Francis his wife, dau. of John Beale, of Bredgar, whose elder dau., Elizabeth, m. Matthew Thurston, and was mother of Thomas Thurston, of Willesborough, father of Mrs. Tylden. By Sarah his wife, Mr. Tylden-Pattenson had issue, three sons and three daus. Mr. Tylden-Pattenson d. 1819, and was succeeded by his son.

Grave at Ludhiana - "Sacred to the memory of 1st Lieutenant Henry Thomas Tylden Pattenson of the 1st Troop 1st Brigade Horse Artillery who died at Loodianah on the 13th of March 1848, in the 24th year of his age. This tomb is erected as a tribute of their esteem and regard by his brother officers."
Memorial at Biddenden church, Kent - "Sacred to the memory of Henry Thomas Tylden-Pattenson, 1st Lieutenant, Bengal Horse Artillery, third son of Cooke Tylden-Pattenson of Ibornden, Esquire, who died at Lodiana, 13th March 1848 aged 23 years ten months.
